When responding to a major incident it is vital that there is reliable and fast communications between first responders and command and control centres. It is essential that mission critical information on the progress of the operation can be made available to HQ, and that inputs from Gold and Silver Command reach the teams in the field. This may well be under circumstances where terrestrial networks are destroyed or degraded in the incident area.
