What is Wireless IP CCTV?

Traditional CCTV systems use analogue links to connect cameras to the control station.

An IP CCTV system digitally links cameras and control station together on an IP (Internet Protocol) network, with connections made over CAT5 cable. As such, the system can easily be integrated with an existing IP network, allowing easy access to video data from networked computers, or even remote access over the internet. Digital footage can be quickly reviewed - you do not need to wait for tape to rewind, and many systems can search for movement or dangerous behaviours.

Having cameras on an IP network also allows easy addition of digital wireless links, saving on expensive cable maintenance costs.

Why choose Wireless IP CCTV?

There are a range of compelling reasons to choose a wireless IP CCTV solution, or upgrade your existing CCTV to wireless IP CCTV:

  • Reduced maintenance costs: Wireless systems avoid expenditure on cable maintenance and line leasing. These savings can often lead to the system paying for itself in a matter of 1-2 years.

  • Quick, easy and inexpensive to set up: Sites can often be installed and operational in 3 or 4 hours. The system can be integrated with existing analogue or IP hardware, e.g. cameras, Legacy CCTV systems, Pelco CCTV systems, and DVRs.

  • Flexibility and mobility: Cameras need not be fixed in one place.

    • Rapid Deployment Cameras can be easily moved to target arising needs: new construction work, identified problem areas, temporary events, etc.

    • Wearable Cameras enable you to track the situations your staff encounter, as they happen.

  • Secure: Wireless systems are more resilient to vandalism and site maintenance - there is no cabling to cut or interrupt. Data transfer is encrypted for high security.

  • High-quality, easy-to-retrieve video footage. Systems allow IP remote-operated retrieval and storage of video footage to a hard drive, for easy access and management.
